James McGowan has served as Director of the Lyons Recreation Department since September 1, 2006, and has been proudly dedicated to the City of Lyons ever since. A graduate of Georgia Southern University, James has spent his life involved in sports, which led him to a career focused on youth and community development.

He is a strong advocate for children and remains committed to preserving the park’s long-standing tradition of putting kids first while honoring its rich history. James has also been a member of the State Athletic Committee for more than 20 years.

He and his wife, Linda, have two children, Lindsay and Logan, four grandchildren, and lovingly remember one angel grandchild.
