Zone 3 = Third week of the month

Zone 4 = Fourth week of the month

Mix will be picked up in all zones on Fridays by appointment only

STATE LAW REQUIREMENTS

Georgia Law requires that each City, County, or Solid Waste Management Authority impose restrictions on the placement of yard trimmings (grass clippings, leaves, pine straw, pine cones, etc.) in landfills. Yard trimmings MUST be separated from all municipal solid waste/ household garbage) in landfills.

COLLECTION OF HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE - ALLGREEN SERVICES LLC

The City of Lyons has a contract with Allgreen Services LLC for household garbage.

Federal Law prohibits Allgreen Services LLC from bringing hazardous material into the

Toombs County Landfill (i.e. paints or oil); therefore, these materials will not be picked up.

Allgreen Services LLC will not pick up brush, limbs, metal, or any kind of household junk.

COLLECTION OF YARD TRIMMINGS– LYONS PUBLIC WORKS DEPT.

The Public Works Department will pick up these items.

• Do not place yard trimmings under power lines.

• Yard trimmings (such as leaves, pine straw, and cones, grass clippings, etc.) Will be collected on a weekly rotating basis.

• Yard trimmings and brush produced by contracted services will not be removed by city collection services unless the contractor gains prior approval by the City and pays collection fees.

• Yard trimmings must be placed at the CURB for collection on the appropriate collection week for your street.

• Miscellaneous items such as appliances, furniture, bedding, and metal will be picked up at the curb. Refrigerators and freezers must have the doors removed before being discarded.

• Please refer to details below to determine your scheduled pick up day

• Limbs and hedge trimmings/clippings must be cut to a length not to exceed 6 feet and must be no larger than 6 inches in diameter. Also, each item should not weigh more than

(50) pounds

• Please do not call City Hall to schedule Yard Trimming Pickup

• In order to provide equal service, the City will only pick up a total of three cubic yards of Yard Trimmings or Rubbish per household per month. The City will determine a fee for anything over this amount


LYONS PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT MIXED TRASH COLLECTION SCHEDULE

The City of Lyons Public Work Department will collect miscellaneous “junk” items as described below. Please note the pickup day for mixed trash “junk” will be Fridays. THIS SERVICE IS NOT FOR HOUSEHOLD GARBAGE. The following steps should be followed for satisfactory service.

1. Do not place mixed trash under power lines

2. Items to pick up must be placed adjacent to the curb before 7:30 a.m.

3. Call City Hall to schedule a Mixed Trash pickup before Thursday at Close of Business.

4. In order to provide equal service, the City will only pick up a total of three cubic yards of Mix per household per month. The City will determine a fee for anything over this amount.

5. Brush and yard trimmings must be separate from “junk”.

The Public Works City WILL NOT collect the following items:

a. Highly flammable or explosive material.

b. Contractor Refuse (i.e. trees, carpet, roofing, building materials, etc.)

c. Tires or other rubber material.

d. Hazardous Waste (i.e. paint or oil).

e. Automobile Parts.
