Official Level 1 Drought Notice – City of Lyons
Drought conditions throughout most of the state have prompted the Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) to declare a portion of the State, including The City of Lyons, to be in a Drought Level 1 condition.
This means public water utilities, are required to begin a public awareness campaign to help citizens better
understand drought, its impact on water supplies, and the need for water conservation. According to
the EPD, most of the state is experiencing severe and extreme drought conditions.
As a result, The City of Lyons must follow the Level 1 Drought Response requirements.
How you can help conserve water Residents and businesses are encouraged to adopt simple, everyday conservation habits:
• Regularly check for, and repair, water leaks inside and outside your home
• Shorten showers and turn off the tap when brushing teeth, shaving, and face washing
• Run dishwashers and washing machines only when you have a full load
• Don’t water your landscape during the hottest part of the day when evaporation is highest
• Adjust sprinklers so only your lawn is watered, and not the house, driveway, or street
We urge residents to conserve water by any reasonable means, and we thank you for your help in conserving our most precious resource.
