The City of Lyons Proudly Celebrates Professional Municipal Clerks Week

The City of Lyons is proud to recognize May 3–9, 2026, as Professional Municipal Clerks Week a time dedicated to honoring the essential role Municipal Clerks play in keeping local government running smoothly, efficiently, and transparently.

Municipal Clerks are often the quiet force behind the scenes, ensuring that the day-to-day functions of city government operate seamlessly. From maintaining official records and coordinating meetings to supporting city leadership and serving as a vital link between government and citizens, their work is foundational to a well-functioning community.

This week, we are especially proud to celebrate our own City Clerk, Lynn Rowland, and Assistant City Clerk, Chaquandra Hudson. Their dedication, knowledge, and attention to detail are at the heart of everything we do here in Lyons.

In recognition of their outstanding service, Mayor Willis D. NeSmith, along with the Lyons City Council, formally honored Lynn Rowland and Chaquandra Hudson by presenting them with an official proclamation declaring May 3–9, 2026, as Professional Municipal Clerks Week in the City of Lyons.

Lynn Rowland has served as the City of Lyons’ Municipal Clerk since 2000, demonstrating unwavering dedication, professionalism, and a true servant’s heart. Her commitment to excellence is evident not only in her daily work but also in her pursuit of continued education and professional development. Lynn earned her Certified Municipal Clerk designation in 2005, became a Certified Local Government Officer Level I in 2017, and most recently achieved a Master of Education in Management Development in 2022. Her passion for growth reflects her desire to elevate the standards of her office and mentor others within the profession.

Assistant City Clerk Chaquandra Hudson, who has served since 2025, has quickly made a meaningful impact. She has embraced her role with enthusiasm and purpose, helping to shape a positive workplace culture through her leadership and heart for service. Chaquandra fosters an environment of cooperation and professionalism, strengthening the team and contributing to the overall effectiveness of city operations.

Together, Lynn and Chaquandra exemplify integrity, reliability, and a deep commitment to public service. While much of their work happens behind the scenes, its impact is seen and felt throughout our community every single day.
